Slate Planner Refund Policy
Current service status. This Policy applies to Slate Pro web subscriptions purchased through Paddle. Slate does not bill subscriptions through Google Play; its Google Play distribution is consumption-only. Nothing in this Policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to Slate Pro web subscriptions purchased through Paddle.
It does not apply to a transaction that has not occurred or to a separate arrangement governed by different refund terms communicated for that arrangement.
Nothing in this Policy limits a refund, withdrawal, warranty, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
2. Slate Pro Purchases Through Paddle
Slate uses Paddle as Merchant of Record and authorized reseller for Slate Pro web subscriptions.
Paddle processes checkout, payment, recurring billing, applicable transaction taxes, invoices, approved refunds, and certain payment disputes under Paddle's own terms and Refund Policy.
Google Play does not process Slate Pro subscription billing. Slate's Google Play distribution is consumption-only.
3. General Refund Approach
Slate does not offer an unconditional money-back guarantee.
Refund requests are reviewed case by case. You may submit a request within 14 days of the relevant purchase or renewal charge. Submitting a request within 14 days does not guarantee approval, except where applicable law gives you a mandatory refund or withdrawal right.
Paddle may approve a full refund, a partial refund, or decline a request after considering the transaction, product, usage, reason for the request, technical circumstances, contractual terms, fraud or abuse indicators, and applicable law.
4. Situations Where a Refund May Be Appropriate
A refund may be appropriate where:
- the same transaction was charged more than once;
- a confirmed billing or checkout error occurred;
- a payment was unauthorized or fraudulent;
- a material technical defect persistently prevents access to paid features as described and cannot reasonably be resolved after you contact Slate support;
- Paddle determines that a refund is appropriate; or
- applicable law requires a refund or withdrawal remedy.
A technical issue should first be reported to slateplanner.support@gmail.com so we can attempt to diagnose and resolve it. If it cannot be resolved, we may recommend or coordinate a refund through Paddle.
5. Situations That Do Not Automatically Qualify
The following will not automatically entitle a customer to a refund or prorated credit:
- changing their mind after purchase;
- not using Slate Pro;
- forgetting to cancel before renewal;
- deciding that the subscription is no longer needed;
- cancelling during an active billing period;
- losing access because of the customer's device, browser, account credentials, permissions, unsupported technology, or failure to maintain available local exports, unless Slate's own breach or defect materially caused the loss;
- requesting immediate account deletion and giving up the remaining paid period; or
- dissatisfaction based only on an unreleased, beta, preview, or future feature that was not represented as included in the purchased plan.
Slate and Paddle may still consider the circumstances of any request, and mandatory rights always apply.
6. Cancellation Is Different From a Refund
Customers may cancel future renewal.
The rule is:
- cancellation prevents the next automatic renewal;
- cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period;
- Pro access continues until the paid-through date;
- cancellation does not automatically refund the unused portion of the current period; and
- ending Pro returns the account to Slate Free, stops Pro cloud access after the paid-through date, and does not lock the customer out of local planner data available on their device.
7. Founding Annual Subscriptions
The website displays a US$29.99/year Founding Annual price, with regional pricing potentially applying at checkout.
An eligible Founding Annual subscriber keeps the recurring annual price assigned to that subscription while the subscription remains continuously active.
An approved refund, cancellation, expiry, or other termination of the subscription may end continuous-subscription eligibility. A later subscription may be offered at the price available at that time.
8. How to Request a Slate Pro Refund
You may contact Slate at slateplanner.support@gmail.com or use Paddle's buyer-support process.
Include only the information reasonably necessary to locate and assess the transaction, such as:
- the email address used at checkout;
- Paddle transaction, receipt, or subscription identifier, if available;
- the date and amount of the charge;
- the reason for the request; and
- relevant technical details or prior support correspondence.
Do not send a complete payment-card number, card security code, password, authentication code, private key, or banking credential.
Slate may assess the product or entitlement issue and communicate a recommendation to Paddle. Paddle processes approved refunds.
9. Refund Method and Timing
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method where possible.
Processing time may depend on Paddle, the payment method, card network, and receiving bank or payment provider.
Taxes, exchange rates, and bank or card-provider conversion charges may affect the amount shown in a customer's local currency. Slate does not control third-party exchange rates or fees.
10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
We encourage customers to contact Slate or Paddle before initiating a chargeback so the issue can be investigated and resolved where possible.
This does not affect lawful rights to dispute a charge through a bank, card issuer, payment provider, consumer authority, regulator, or court.
Fraudulent, abusive, or manipulative refund or chargeback activity may be declined, challenged, or result in access restriction in accordance with the Terms of Service.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the billing lifecycle, Paddle procedures, pricing, applicable law, or business operations.
The effective date above identifies the current version.
12. Contact
